On his national championship title …
“I was under pressure today with this being my last NCAA meet and SMU’s track program being cut, so I wanted really badly to win. It still feels as if it hasn’t happened yet, but it will probably settle in a little later tonight. Right now, though, I have to refocus my attention on the shot put tomorrow.â€
On his future plans …
“I’m staying at SMU to graduate, and after that, I’ll hopefully be good enough to go professional. I made the Olympic team for South Africa, we’ll see how that goes.â€
