  • Go Hogs Go! You beat the NCAA thugs again

Congratulations on another in your long list of national championships. You had to fight the NCAA as they attempted to deny you but you proved who had the mettle as you blew away the field. Congratulations to Florida on an outstanding runner-up performance. This is just another illustration of the dominance of the SEC in NCAA track and field.

While I don't expect to change your mind, I think it is incorrect to presume that anyone associated with the NCAA or their committee attempted to deny Arkansas a championship.

It is their job to provide a fair situation for all NCAA competitors. The rules on Regionals were written and clarified to have all athletes compete at the Regional meet. Every other region had injured athletes that would have loved medical exemptions. It is patently unfair to the other Regions' athletes to apply rules differently across regions (especially after clarifying the rules from a similar situation the year before).

Let's face it. Many "big" track schools hate the Regional system and have been clear in their opposition.

Maybe UArk wanted to make the Regional system look bad so that it will be elminiated? Maybe the NCAA should modify the Regional concept by elminating the honest effort rule and qualifying like XC (where you cannot go to the NCAA meet unless everyone ahead of you in Regionals has been afforded that opportunity).

Don't be shocked when I say this. I am an Arkansas fan. Go 'Hogs.

The sweep of the both 200 titles by Arkansas was a tremendous feat given the absence of their top female sprinter Veronica Campbell. Great job Mr.Coach.
