Check out the wind readings on the first 3 jumps of both Dendy and Hollie (now 2nd with a 55-9 jump) All winds are plus.

        Dendy
        1.2
        1.5
        1.4

        Hollie
        4.3
        4.5
        3.8

Wind aided, (+3.6) but Dendy improves with a 17.54 in round 4.

WAIT. ESPN has a camera set up that doesn't require the useless head-on view of the jumps, and they only use it when they "want to give you an idea of how far that was"?!

And Dendy closes it out with a 17.71 jump with the wind not too far over the allowable, +2.4

3rd longest all conditions in the NCAA.

Yes....usually the explanation of how far it was in the units of basketball courts, baseball fields and football fields (apparently the only units we are capable of understanding) is sufficient to give you an idea of how far it was. They don't want to show you something that could confuse you, like the actual jump itself.

As noted elsewhere, Larry informs us that Dendy covered 2/3 the length of a NBA basketball court in three steps.

Larry certainly gets the award of the most annoying track announcer. And he perseverates so much it isn't even funny anymore !

I don't mind that stuff as it does give the average viewer an idea of the distance. What I mind is that Larry can't get the words out in a direct manner. He circles around every piece of information.
