Molly Hansen (Wisconsin) has gone in to Big Tens, Regionals, and now NCAAs with a mark well down the and qualified or place quite well each time. No one actually look real impressive but you cannot really tell how hard someone is working and how much they have left. It will help the final to have two days between.

Florida State senior (and Australian) Linden Hall certainly knows how to lift for the champs. She's into her 3rd 1500 final in a row.

Hall finished 3rd last year, 9th in 2013...And she's never been on the formchart heading in...

Not sure. Freitas was knocked down early in the race.

Price has that weird head-bobbing going when she is kicking. It looked like Houlihan said, "NO!" just as she realized Price was going by her. She (Houlihan) was really disgusted at losing. The two were right together at 1100, then Houlihan pulled away around 1300 and seemed to have the race sewn up, but Price just kept "bobbing" along and I suddenly realized she was going to catch Houlihan. Great race!

Elise Cranny was in the mix at 700, but let go during the next lap and faded to 76+. She had a strong indoor season (8:58.88 3K), but has not equaled her PB in the 1500. Remember, she beat Efraimson in the World Juniors last summer, behind Dawit Seyaum and Gudaf Tsegay. Now, Seyaum is a top DL contender with a sub-4, Tsegay ran a 4:26.84 indoor mile and is getting into DL meets and Efraimson recently broke Mary Cain's AJR. Cranny set her SB of 4:14.05 in the Pac-12.

Freitas, who is tiny, sort of got high-lowed on the first lap. I don't see a DQ in the results.
                        Cheers,
                        Alan Shank

I though Price was closing at 1400. Houlihan looked back inside about then. I don't think she knew Price was outside, relaxed 10 meters out and lost the race.

She beat Cranny because Cranny died from pushing so hard. I am not sure that Houlihan really had that much left; if she was not alerted by the roar of the crowd it is her own damned fault and the sign of a runner not yet ready for top competition.

I agree, the crowd noise should have tipped her off...maybe/apparently/obviously she did not know how fast Price was closing but I think she eased off and should have run through the tape with three more strides at full residual speed ..
                              Not my problem...
