Steven Gerrard must have been on CRACK when he made that back pass. He was going forward then in a moment of sheer madness played the ball back to the goalkeeper most unnecessarily. As soon as I saw Henry running on to it I knew it was curtains. BTW how fast is Henry anyway, always seems pretty damn quick to me.

At least you guys got to watch some sports. I was at my wife's 1st mother-in-law's 90th B-day party. A whole bunch of Texans. Actually, the old gal is a hoot. Houston to her toenails, but a hoot. Saving grace (such as it was), the whole gang are Lakers fans, so we watched the eviceration (spelling?) Sunday nite. On real football, it is indeed the beautiful game, but only at the highest levels. I am like most US folks vis-a-vis T&F, once every 4 years. They do have the Euros on at several pubs in the bay area, so I may drop in and catch a match or two and have a banger or two, and lots of bitter. I disagree with GH, football is just fine, a sports weekend from hell includes baseball and golf. And maybe sychno swimming. Or gymnastics. Or any totally subjectivly scored event.

In World Cup play, yellow cards get more valuable with time. I would assume that the same thing is true for Euro Cup.

ahem.... we certainly responded but didn't use "non"! It was quite amusing, there were at least 50 English guys on the street yelling back and gesticulating at the French. Some locals were walking past and asked, "what the hell is happening"! Watched the FSW roundup last night...even more sickening to see the replay. Heskey's foul was totally unnecessary and as for Gerrards pass...

I always hope the Germans will lose (sorry Rob); difficulty comes when they play the French!

I wouldn't be so sure. Qualification for the Euro is almost as murderous as for the WC. Everybody who is there can play. Look what the Greeks did to the host Portugal.

Pego, I was wondering over the weekend. Since Slovakia didn't qualify do you follow the Czech Republic in the tournament? Excuse my ignorance and sorry if this is unintentionally insulting.

You are correct. I'll root for the Czechs as the "next best thing". Slovakia sucks at the moment. Glory teams of the fifties through the seventies are a remote memory.
