That makes sense. I just got the idea that this topic was more along the lines of, there won't be any track for us to enjoy until Beijing, as opposed to, we need more track meets to keep the overall sport going.

In my view, this gap is perfect for the athletes to finalize their preparations for Beijing. aaronk thinks runners are windup toys who can run all out every week the whole season, and gh wants to turn athletics into McDonalds.

NACAC about to start for American athletes.
Wasn't there supposed to be a summer series in the NW ?

I kind of disagree with everyone complaining about the DL setup.
I mean yeah, it's not perfect, far from it, but the fact is that a lot of casual fans now watch 14 athletics event every year + a WC/OG/something instead of just that WC/OG/something. I know most people in my circle are now also following the DL meets because the medias talk about them, and they're considered big events.
So it may be done badly but from a publicity perspective, I think it was a success.

(And from a "getting equal pay for result no matter the event" perspective, it's pretty amazing. I know athletes like Melina Robert Michon were able to peak extremely late because they suddenly had a way of getting decent prize money in an "unpopular" event, and thus not have to work on the side)

Here's my solution to the "Great Athletics Drought of 2015" -- binge watching of all 12 DL meets, which are all saved on my DVR! Or maybe I'll just watch one per day.
              Cheers,

Now that we are in a lull before WC's, how does everyone feel USA will do? Seems like DL meets after USA champs. have been lackluster for the most part.

I think Project 30 is doable this year. I'm feeling up to 13 Gold (8m/5w) and 30ish medals (~17m/13w).

Thank God for TECMO BOWL as far as football goes. And you do get a chance to get your future ATS plays together.

Used to track being what it is by now, no big deal. It's sorta like them old prewar blues, ya won't be hearing it on the radio so ya make due.
