Excuse my ignorance (I know I'm overlooking something obvious like 'already has a Wild Card'), but where does this leave Ndiku in the m5, Jepkemboi in wSt and Kipyego in w10? I'm assuming Cherono has a bye in the w5.
While we're at it, who is going for them in the Marathons?
Men - Kipsang, Kiprotich, Kimetto?
Women - MDib, Kiplagat?

Olympics and World 3,000m steeplechase champion, Ezekiel Kemboi, and Diamond League 5,000m champion, Caleb Mwangangi, are among the athletes who were given wild cards to the World Championships.
Men's marathon will be Kimetto, Kipsang and Mark Korir (who I'm not familiar with).
For Kenyan trials only top 2 are guaranteed a spot. The third team member for each event is selected by committee. May or may not end up being the actual third place finisher from each event.
Kipyego has been selected for the 10K (even though she didn't finish) as well and Ndiku (Mwangangi in the article) for the 5K.
I don't know about Jepkemboi in the steeple. Women's marathon will be Edna Kiplagat, Jemima Sumgong and Veseline Jepkesho.

For the women, Edna Kiplagat, Jelagat (which one? There's a Jemima Jelagat 2:20:41 at Boston), possibly Helah Kiprop and somebody else. They have four, since E Kiplagat is defending.
Somebody needs to put together a database of Kenyan athletes, assigning a "primary key" to each so we can tell them apart.

It's easy to get confused though, as Wilson Kipsang of Kenya's full name is Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich. I actually thought I heard once that Stephan Kiprotich's middle name was Kipsang, to boot ... but a quick search turns up nothing to that effect; figured that was a bit too good, haha.
Mare Dibaba will be in Beijing too, only for Ethiopia.

The article clarifies that:
3rd in the M 5000, and selected, was Isiah Koech, called Kiplangat. Ndiku was also selected (Mwangangi).
Women's MAR is E Kiplagat, Jemima Jelagat (Sumgong in the article), Visilene Jepkesho (Veseline in the article, 2:24:44 for 3rd in Paris). No 4th woman in the article, but I think they announced four, including, perhaps, Helah Kiprop.
The article does not include a list of all 47, unfortunately.

New names in women's steeple this year. They selected 18-year-old (let's say she is though I'm always dubious about DOB from certain parts of the world) Rosefline Chepngetich with 9:35 PB over Lidya Chepkurui and Purity Kirui! She could be the one who won't make the final.
Nice to see Eunice Jepkorir running good again.
BTW Where's Milcah Chemos this year?
Men's steeple team looking to be the best possible though I'm gonna miss Paul Kipsiele Koech again.

This year though, the 4 they are sending are plain better than him, thus far. He does have a very respectable 8:11 to his name, still.
He was left off the team in 2012, in spite of running 7:56 and 7:54 in May that year, before the trials even, then running a 8:00 and 8:03 post trials ... ridiculous.
Kenya though, is pretty safe with whoever they pick in the steeple, haha ... so many great ones in line.Last edited by HasBeenNeverWas; 08-02-2015, 01:21 AM.
