  • Anyone with Olympic stuff they'd like to donate to the USOC Archives?

I have a friend here in Colorado Springs who is the Archivist for the USOC. She's the curator of their collection of Olympic and Olympian-related memorabilia...apparel, equipment, photos, posters, books, magazines (she has a number of years of TAFNEWS), physiology journals, relay torches, participation medals, stuffed mascots, etc. She's always on the lookout for more things for the collection. Last fall she engineered a big move from 3000 sq ft of rather industrial, behind-chain-link-fence space in the basement of the shooting building at our Olympic Training Center, to 6000 brand spanking new sq ft in the USOC headquarters in downtown Colorado Springs, with climate controlled walk-in vault for rare items, appropriate storage for photos, manuscripts, posters, etc. She takes her job very seriously (to wit, she chastised an intern for folding a set of opening ceremony or podiums sweats incorrectly..."You'll damage the fibers like that.")

If anyone has any items they think might be of interest, that they'd like to donate, I can put you in touch with her. Private message me. If you or a friend actually competed in an OG and have things to donate, awesome. We managed to slip her business card, along with a nice sales pitch, to several notable Olympians at the USATF meet in Eugene this year. Hopefully that might bear fruit. Ticket stubs, programs...not sure if they're wanted, but you never know. Sweats, singlets, spikes, relay batons, speed skates, hockey sticks, kayak paddles, javelins, unique or autographed photos, pins, participation medals (or actual medals!) all would be welcomed. Jim Hines' 1968 gold spikes (auctioned off online last fall or winter) were a bit out of her budget.

Wasn't sure about this forum or Historical (or Trading Post) but we're in that slow "off-season" here, waiting impatiently for the Worlds, so I decided on Current Events.
    Thanks!
