  • the ongoing Russian scandal & suspensions [new title]

Edit: And thus begins a long discussion about corruption within the IAAF and Russia...

How are we not talking about this yet?

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1628...4986540255876/ (scroll down and read the comments I made, the ones with pictures)...

It is almost 3:30 in the morning, I just keep finding more evidence that this is a cover-up by Russia.

I can't speak for everyone on these forums, of course, but I hardly ever go there, and this thread is the first I heard of the story.

You really should go there. I don't know of a better way to stay current with what's going on in the track & field world.

The Russians at administrative level have always been cheats, are still cheats, and will likely forever remain cheats. It is something to do with their DNA. I imagine Putin is already making the necessary arrangements to have Lashamova and the organiser of the meet to be awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.

I'm obviously biased to the max here, but tandfman is spot-on with his "no better way" comment, as far as I'm concerned. I don't think one even need many/most (or even any) of the headlines, but taking a minute or so each day simply to reach each of the headlines gives one a pretty good picture of the interesting issues that are unfolding every day.

The other huge mystery here is why are they hiding Sergey Bakulin, the same way they are Lashmanova? He appeared in the original podium pictures, but was missing from the results and the re-shoot. As far as I can tell, he is not serving a doping ban?

You should also consider that not everyone is on Facebook, i can't access your link from earlier, it asks me to logon to FB, which i can't do.

No, they are not. And I suggest that Facebook as a very common, but not-quite-universal 'thing' will be of rather limited duration. And, the more such things have limited runs, the less people (especially over 30 or 40) will want to bother investing time and energy when there are so many easily (too easily) accessed media.

Same here - I check the boards most days but hardly ever the home page. Figure if anything interesting is happening it's getting talked about on the boards, and besides my sports-related news-junkie days are somewhere in the past.

You might be surprised by these demographic numbers. Old farts signing on to Facebook as the kids bail. (I won't get into cause and effect)
