How does a not for profit continue to make employment decisions based upon jobs that are not posted anywhere? It's bad enough that most everything in the sport is a good ol' boy decision making process, but hiring like this has got to be pushing serious legal boundaries. Not that USATF can spell or define ethics.

That's well and good, as long as his job begins and ends with USATF-only responsibilities and does not extend to MSI engagements.

Indeed, whatever "threats" Siegel may have received, the much bigger security concern is major event targeting.

I agree with gh and pvp. What gh calls the "modern climate" is unfortunate, but it's real. USATF's events and teams are not immune from threats or acts of terror. And perhaps the more successful and visible they are, the more vulnerable they become as well. It's horrible, but it's the world and the country we live in right now. I wish Mr. Crowe the best in his new position.

I think it is a good position for the National Office to create.

In the modern climate, I see absolutely nothing wrong with the creation of such a position (although, without prejudging Crowe's bona fides, I'd be happier if it were a former FBI or DHS agent who would probably have a wider view of the country/planet)

I have been told that Siegel received threats and that DHS was at the USATF annual meeting.
