how about Grant Holloway this year? Looking at the list of top returners he has not only the No. 1 mark in the long jump, but also No. 3 in the long hurdles, No. 4 in the short hurdles and =No. 5 in the high jump.

He's now the national leader in the 55, 55H and LJ. That last at 25-11½, which makes him No. 3 on the all-time list.

And ran 6.22 for 55m yesterday as well. Also leading the 500m on the yearly list over Josephus Lyles.

A 9:1 Range for HSL (55 - 500) and then two different (vertical and horizontal) jumps with great marks. As someone said, how about that trio of SP/JT/DT and can he learn to vault?

38-11 in the shot. No marks in the other events.

speaking of leaders, just in case somebody has never tumbled to it, note that at the top of this page there's a link to yearly leaders in all the major categories

55m is 5" more than 60y for us dinosaurs, so

                    6.22 flat
                    and
                    7.22 hurdles

put him at about 6.1/7.1 (39"), which certainly shows us what a stud he is in a historical perspective. I'd say 6.0/7.0, but the gun is closer at 55m than 100m.

He seems to be having an off year for HJ. He is probably too busy with doing everything else.

It may be that he has hardly done the HJ this year, considering his schedule. I think he is 6-2, 180, so basic size would not be an obstacle to the decathlon. He could eventually be a faster version of Ashton Eaton. Of course he plays football. But multi fans have to fantasize about prospects and every once in a while they come true.

Video for what I believe is his personal best HJ series from spring 2014. Chops his steps considerably on his first couple of approaches and then smooths it out a bit.

As for football, he turned down a football scholarship from UGA to take a track ride from Florida. But there is the possibility he could walk on to the UF football team.

If he does, he becomes a football player for scholarship purposes. And if he's any good, we lose him to the $iren allure of that sport.

Still, it's better than the usual situation.
