  • Stockholm--3 WR attempts

Surprised no one started a thread already!
    Meet's started already.
Genzebe Dibaba expected to be paced through 1000 in 2:36 enroute to hoped for 4:11 mile WR!
That's for INdoor, but would also be an "overall" WR.

The others are Ayanleh Souleiman chasing the 2:14.96 WR in the 1000.
And Abdelelah Haroun gunning for the 1:00.06 WR run by Brycen Spratling in the 500.

Lots of other great fields tonight too!

Phoebe Wright tweeted earlier, showing a graphic of Dibaba's expected pace of 2:36.5 through 1000---

I hope an American is pacing. That way, they can pretty much run an AR in the 1K. WTF

    Good old Phoebe!!
    LOL

Tim Nedow of Canada took the SP with 69-11-75, or 21.33.
Only "B" races have been run so far, with a Men's 800 taken by Nick Kipkoech in 1:46.93 being the best mark so far.

In the "B" 500 race, Mark English won in 1:00.93 over Erik Sowinski's 1:01.72!
        Haroun's WR attempt is later!
But not bad for a B race!

Sure would be nice not to have to click 3+ times to get to a result.

I was amused and bemused by her most recent blog wherein she gauged her fitness by whether she could sit on the toilet like a "normal" person.

                  SECOND WORLD RECORD!!!!!
                  Haroun---59.83!!

                  First time under 60 seconds!!

ADD: We might get FOUR World Records, as Genzebe said she wants to get her own 1500 WR enroute--which means they'll be timing the 1500 splits!!

                    (3:56.27 1500 enroute---no WR)

ADD: Athletics Weekly tweeted that Haroun, Souleiman, and Dibaba are all coached by Jama Aden!!
THREE WR's in one night by one coach!!

Technically Haroun has also set a WJR. Born 1997.

Not the world record or coached world records, Jesse Owen's coach got four WRs in a day (45 minutes, actually).

Dibaba's effort is 2nd fastest women's mile ever indoor or out (behind Masterkova's 4:12.56). Also fastest in 19 years.

Took 3.82 seconds of previous indoor record (Milente's).

Only woman to have run a faster 1500m indoors is Genzebe Dibaba... in 2014.

Historical question, but related to Dibaba's record, so I ask it here: She now has both (indoor and outdoor) 1500 WR, and the indoor mile WR. Let's say she gets the outdoor mile WR. Has a woman had all 4 of these at once? If so, who? (By the way, not a trivia quiz -- I don't know the answer. I could probably figure it out, I want to give someone out there the satisfaction of providing the answer.)
