Small world.. I stepped on a clod and broke my 5th metatarsal circa 1980 but did not know the fracture had a name.. hurt like hell.. on crutches for weeks, wrapped tightly, no surgery, no pin, healed ok, resumed running and jumping in couple of months.. no problem since, except for a tender bony knot on the outside of my foot.. cannot imagine throwing off that foot so soon.Last edited by lonewolf; 08-10-2016, 04:02 AM.

On the home page, there's a link to an article that includes Gill's recent posting on Instagram. Yes, he has a broken foot. Yes, he's going to compete in Rio.

It was reported he has been training in a moon boot. It is reported that he threw over 20 in practice last Monday - presumably without the moon boot. Evidently the technical description of his injury is a Jones fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone.

He had his best throw ever in Feb and I have not heard a thing since. Since he will be at Rio, is he training in New Zealand or has he gone to europe to train, compete and get ready for the Olympics? His fellow Kiwi, Tom Walsh, is out there competing, doing well and getting "competition tough". Jacko should be doing the same if he does not want to be just another thrower in the Olympics.Tags: None
