The good news with Ms. Todd is we haven't heard anything about a suspension or ineligibility which eliminates more nefarious issues. If it was a disagreement with the coaching staff we very well may never know what the issue was.

Well, again, she was effusive in praise for the coaching staff. And, while not hearing things about suspension or ineligibility may diminish the likelihood of more nefarious issues it does not eliminate it. "unexpected, beyond my control' are how she described it.

Good point 26mi. Just because she characterizes her separation from the team as "unexpected, beyond my control" doesn't prove that she didn't "violate team rules".

I would think the team would have reported a suspension or ineligible status.

College coaches don't usually report such things voluntarily, it has to be pried out of them in interviews and press conferences.

I made this prediction in my latest blog post---
Cunliffe MIGHT be the next to go Pro---immediately following the NCAA---following in Prandini's footsteps!!

From the story on the Home Page:

Junior Marybeth Sant announced on Instagram in May that injuries have forced her to retire from the sport.

“With a lot of thought, countless prayers, doctors advice and tough decisions put in my lap, it was clear that I needed to give my body a rest and let myself heal, recuperate, and let go of this chapter in my life,” wrote Sant, who never specified what type of injury or injuries caused her career to end.

I'd like to address the churn, especially regarding Crouser, Moore, Sant and Francis. The simple fact is that none of them had remotely approached their potentials and chose to go elsewhere to re-boot (I'm assuming Sant will go elsewhere, though she hasn't announced yet). No one can argue with the quality of the coaching staff that has produced many NCAA champions in individual events. H Crouser coached by Eric Whitsett who has produced two NCAA champs at different schools. Moore working with several coaches, but who can deny the success of a program which produced Ashton Eaton and BTE, both NCAA and World Champs? Sant working with Curtis Taylor and competing for arguably the most successful women's sprint school in recent years. Not sure about Francis. Perhaps laboring in the shadow of her successful sister was difficult and she certainly did nothing at Oregon that might reveal any sort of potential as an NCAA scorer. I'll give the coaching staff at FL great credit for trying her in the 400H, since she really wasn't very successful in the short sprints and middle distances as a Duck. Anyways, it would be hard to argue with the quality of the coaching staff at Oregon, but we're also dealing with very young adults who were unhappy with where they were and decided that leaving offered a better solution than sticking with the program. How many of us switched colleges for various reasons relating to academics, social life, etc? I see this as more of a normal progression than a specific problem at Oregon.

And prying anything out of the Oregon coaching staff would be equivalent to prying anything from Bill Belichick.

are you saying the Ducks let air out of their javelins?

LOL. That's the answer, gh. Todd has left the program due to unethical equipment modifications. Oh well, it's as good a theory as any other in this discussion.

Todd graduated this year. She may have grown tired of it all. WC Silver medal in the 4x100, LJ finalist and semi in the 100. If 2015 is the peak it's not a bad peak.
