    For extra
    >credit, what was the name of the imposter? (I almost got sacked; didn't know
    >that Bert Nelson had decreed that his name not appear in print, so as not to
    >give him any credit for his jape, and just before the issue went to press
    >I--the lowly statistician--saw "the imposter" and changed it to......)

The answer has been given but it looks like Bert wasn't the only one:

"In order not to give public recognition to the prankster, the media agreed not to publish his name."

I didn't remember the triple cast being $150, but my mind is basically gone. I do remember that you could get either week, but the whole package made the "other" week pretty much free. We actually watched some of the swimming and other sports. But not 12hours at a time. If the other sports coverage was as good for the hard core as the athletics, the fans were happy.

Not all fans were totally happy. I have one hard to please friend who was outraged that they cut away from "two whole laps" of the 10K to show live javelin final. As everything was live, decisions had to be made. But this guy splits touchdowns in the 400H. And I thought I was anal.

I got the triplecast and it was great.

even if the annoucers are terrible, just use the MUTE...

this time around I understand there's going to be an incredible number of hours devoted over a 4 or 5 stations...

hoepfully, enough of the t&f makes it on and the MUTE button isn't needed...

If they put Dwight behind the mike on the "other channel" telecasts, we'll be just fine.

            >>ABC or NBC?

NBC 1992 Barcelona TripleCast. Best ever, bar none.

            I agree
why don't people pronounce vowels anymore

From what I've read the spreading around is going to involve the 'other' sports and not the bigger ones such as Track, Swimming, Gymnastics, etc.

                >"That's not Frank. That
                >man is an imposter! Get that man off the the track!!".
This was my favorite memory of Eric Segal in Munich. I almost posted it earlier, but couldn't remember his exact words. As far as I'm concerned, Segal's hysterics far outdid the imposter's little stunt.

The best commentator by a wide margin is Steve Cram on Eurosport.

I don't remember the cost, but I still have many, many hours of that stuff on tape.
