Youth always wins. There is a natural time to hang em up and move to the next stage of life. I think it's exciting to watch the new kids on the block improve and become the top of the heap.

Surprised about Stahl. She's relatively young for a thrower, and was in good shape this year with silver at the EC, even if she had an unsuccessful Olympics.

That's true, Obergfoll is four years older (so a whole olympic cycle) but Stahl has a degree in Urology and a medical career in front of her. I also think she could have gone on another 4 years but that's all.

Add Johnny Dutch to the retired list. He has indicated that he is retiring from the 400 hurdles.

T&Fn previously announced that Majewski was calling it quits after the meet in Warsaw. What a way to go out with a 69'2" SB! When was the last time he threw that far?

Back in... 2012! He went over 21m in 2014 too but this is his farthest in four years... and indeed he is retiring, but he has three meetings left.

I know Brigetta Barrett has been noted as retired on this board a few times, but I have yet to see any link or source confirming it.

She ended her career badly. NH in front of her home crowd. I thought she would change her mind and go on another year.

She was injured. Tried to come back and it didn't work out. I think she is ready to be done. She's 35 and probably has other things she wants to do with her life. Vaulting in pain isn't fun.
