As most of you know, Andy Wheating announced his retirement today. (Facebook & front page here)

But so has Shaquille Walker---at age 24!!
He wants to be a dentist---now---so retired with a couple of years left on his contract!

While not retired---far from it!---Kellyn Taylor is training to be a fireman (firewoman??)!!

And Carrie Tollefson interviewed Nick Symmonds on her podcast (done Dec 22, but released today).
He talks mostly about his post-pro life---Run Gum, doing the marathon, fishing, etc!

Proving Pro athletes DO have a life outside athletics!!

Maybe she's trying to hold out just long enough (another 2½ years) to take a shot at Ottey's age 40+ WR (10.99 at Thessaloniki in 2000). That is, if the injuries don't catch up with her as fast as time itself.

2016 Olympic high jump champion Ruth Beitia has retired from athletics due to persistent injuries, it was announced on Wednesday. At 38 years of age, her body just couldn't handle the rigors of training.

“I’ve spent many years putting my body to 100 percent on many occasions and putting it to the limit on others,” Beitia told a news conference in her home city of Santander, accompanied by her coach Ramon Torralbo.

“The situation we find ourselves in today is to tell you that we are calling time on our sporting life.”

Beitia is the only Spanish female athlete to have won an Olympic gold.
She has combined her sporting exploits with a career in politics since she was elected to the regional parliament of Cantabria with the ruling PP party in 2011.

Just saw where Garrett Scantling has participated in UGA Pro Football Senior Day as a wide receiver. Said he's returning to his "first love".

    Still wondering about Montano!
    Also, is Barbora Spotakova retired?

What about the Bahamas' Chris Brown!
He sets Age records every year he runs lately!
    He's due for Age 38!

    And Mark Kiptoo?
He ran 2:06:00 in 2015 at Age 39---that's the Age 39 record!
He's 40 now, and could get the 40 & over record of 2:08:38!

    Also, what about Maggie Vessey?
She's in her mid-30's now, and might want to go into fashion design!

    Molly Ludlow?

ADD: Another I'm curious about is the flashy Ezekiel Kemboi!
    Retired?
Hope not--he's good for the sport!
We need more wild men---and women!
    LOL

Very strong line-up, I'd like them to go for the WIR but 1.06.31 from Krasnomovets-Forsheva is probably achievable only buy Okolo if in top shape. Her 300 was mediocre while her 600 was strong (1.25 flat) but not as strong as she would need to break the 500 world best. Montano in top shape could probably run close to that time but at this point I'd say she will run 1.10ish while Muhammad seems to be that kind of athlete who runs faster with hurdles than without.

Nothing on her Twitter about races or training!
    She normally runs INdoors!
