Execs have said publicly that you can't judge a young player by September performance because of a variety of factors including who is still "playing" and who has prematurely gone on vacation.

My comment regarding time of year was more of a Spring Training reference than anything else. I should have just left it at the expectation of a no hitter in any given game and being disappointed when it doesn't occur.

Getting back to the meet itself, I found it enjoyable which is all I really care about.

He is now 4th on GBR all-time indoor list at this distance, and one more good meet would give him a good chance to move up to #2, behind Farah. Seems like he is starting 2017 well.
Butchart ran two cross country races: the Liverpool Cross Challenge (won it) and the European Championships (4th). I like it when people actually race, it's hard to be a fan of someone you never see.

I deleted the meet from my DVR but, unless my ears were playing tricks on me, I thought it was mentioned more than once that Butchart was Canadian. They were making a big deal out of his supposed aggressiveness during the race. Maybe I misheard?

They called him a Scot b/c I immediately looked up the Scottish 3k record. He broke it by 7 seconds.

Letsrun mentioned it on their recap. I watched the video with Obiri and she said she was skipping the Kenyans trials.

Possible she has been given a direct berth on the Worlds team, and she's excused from the Trials?

Story now linked on front page says she's not interested in the WXC.
