Four, count them four, straight hours of HS girls 4x4 relays. What's not to like.

I have a ticket, but will probably skip today. There is only about 45 minutes of action that I'm interested in. I'd like to see the college women DMR, and HS championship mile, 3000, and DMR, but I can't justify the hour drive each way in near rush hour traffic. I'll be there most of tomorrow and the next day though.

Some of us would like the High School Girls 4x400 heats (almost 4 hours) moved to Friday morning to allow some more high profile events on Thursday afternoon. The High School Boys 4x400 heats run most of Saturday morning.

According to the start list for the Women's 4X1500 Relay, BYU is running Kristi Rush on the 1st AND 3rd legs!!
Well, gosh, I'm sure happy they're giving her about 4:20 rest!!
          LOL

My eyes do not deceive me!!
Kristi Rush ran 4:33.09 for BYU's opening leg.
Kristi Rush ran 4:24.10 for BYU's 3rd leg!

          Go look for yourself!!
          LOL

The race to watch is the girls' 4x400 final at 5:47 P.M., E.S.T., to see if Sydney goes 49.xx to knock off one or more of the Jamaican schools.

Damn! :-( But an outstanding leg nonetheless. 50.37 for Sydney. Union Catholic finished 3rd (3:38.92). From the looks of it, she blew past Edwin Allen (nipping them at the line) and Holmwood Tech with that anchor.

                        MR for Hydel (3:33.99).

Is it me or is that crowd pretty thin today? Especially for the weather.

You saw a television shot of the stands before the Sprint Medley which is the step child of the eight college Championships of America. It is held near the end of Friday after 6 pm and most of the crowd has already left after a long day.

Crowd was 22k on Thursday and on a good Friday gets 30k+ and Saturday is usually 40k+. Franklin Field holds around 50k last I looked.

The upset of the day is East Stroudsburg University winning the College Men's Championship Shuttle Hurdles when favorite South Carolina had a DNF.

Does anybody know the last time a Division 2 school won a championship relay at Penn?
