Some noteworthy results yesterday, in the component of the meet that is more distance-focused:
Samantha Watson continued her climb up the US HS a-t 800 list, with a 2:00.78 PB (behind Charlene Lipsey 1:59.57, who continues her best season ever -- that's her outdoor best, and her 2nd fastest mark overall, having run faster at Millrose). Watson moves ahead of Ajee Wilson into 3rd on the a-t HS list.
m5000
1. Muktar Edris (ETH) 13:01.04
2. Cyrus Rutto (KEN) 13:03.44 PB
m800
1. Brandon McBride (CAN) 1:45.36
2. Marcin Lewandowski (POL) 1:45.76
boys HS 'dream mile'
1. Patrick Parker 4:03.99 PB (from 4:06.72, 2016)
2. Austin Hindman 4:04.53 PB (but I don't know what else he has at this distance)
3. Casey Clinger 4:04.87 PB (from 4:05.96, 2016)
4. Isaac Green 4:05.23 PB (from 4:09.69, 2017)
So, although nothing 'history-making' (in US HS terms), excellent running from these young athletes. Also, some other PB below these (per all-athletics.com), but I did not look into them.
girls HS 'dream mile'
1. Lexy Halladay 4:41:80 PB (from 4:48.43i, 2016)
2. Brie Oakley 4:41.95 PB (from 4:46.97, 2017)
3. Lauren Gregory 4:42.00
ditto comment from HS boys mile, above.
