    VNK can PR.
Blake can't come within .6 of his.
Makwala and Webb can break 20, but not their PRs.

Zharnel Hughes (5th in 2015) looked pretty good in his last race; 20.22 from lane 1 on a not very fast track, 0.04 behind Webb. He was only fourth at the British NCs, but seems to be peaking at the right time and is competing at home.

I wouldn't count the other South Africans completely out, either. We haven't seen much of Simbine in the 200, but he peaked well last year; and while Munyai's best times have come at altitude, that 31.61 in Ostrava (only 0.17 behind Makwala) was really good for someone who's been more a 100/200 runner than a 200/400 one.

There is no way Blake is going to medal. Id love to see Makwala pick up the silver.

Bolt not running this should be considered a crime, but since it's so, Van Diddy doubles.....!

I do not think that Bolt has worked on speed stamina and he might well look pretty weak here. I do not think that he wanted to work that hard and I suspect that the curve might have exacerbated his back issues. Be happy with what you have as he has survived the season without too many back problems.

And, it helps pave the way for track with the emergence of another superstar.

Anyone fear Makwala might give this a pass to maximise his chances in the 400m? I hope not because he has a real chance here.

What are the odds of 1st and 2nd being the same in 200m and 400m? That would be quite a unique double.

I'm still skeptical of Makwala's chances in the 400m on Tuesday let alone here.

He opted to focus solely on the 100. Don't know why, as this comes afterwards and would have just been icing on the cake. I guess after a long season, he didn't want to chance injury.

Blake looked decent, Richards ran really fast, and van Niekerk may have been pushed to run faster than he would have liked. Still, he's handled his 400 rounds so well, I still favour him for gold tomorrow in the 400.

Good run and a new PB for Talbot. Good run for Volko too who made the next round. WVN looked good, hope running that time doesn't affect him that much tomorrow.
