Re: tafnut, I'm calling you out
Tell me sumpin I don't know. I expect that this 'call out' has to do with what I just saw on TV - Lauren Williams. Did I not agree that she has great turnover?! There is no doubt LW is a great talent. But so is MJ. We'll see. If MJ loses, it won't be the only mistake I made in my picks - I had Hartwig at second!

Lol, c'mon! Little bit more detail (a la tafnut)!
Tafnut - you say Lauryn was blazing, so I'm guessing she's making the schoolgirl mistake of parhaps running too fast in the heats..? (unless she's doing it for the psychological advantage..?). Apart from her, who looked the best in the heats? I.e. did it look as if any of them were holding back, or did some of them appear to be struggling, etc...?

Jon, no heats.
Tonight was quarterfinal only. They scratched the heats when a bunch of people unexpectedly scratched.
It's a dogfight from here on out.
(Edit, just for one person. LW's heat was over 10 meters on.)

I know, I know! I'm

>semis, etc) "the heats". Not that it matters much.
emphasis on 'not that it matters much' - 3 100m runs in two days isnt exactly deadly, plus her 'blazing' (in relation to the other qualifiers) time was still what, nearly 2/10ths of a second off her ncaa champ time..

All the heats were negative wind, 1-2 mps. Williams' heat had the least wind, but I still thought she looked best. Marion looked a bit sluggish, IMO, and Gail & Inger looked quite good.
Although I am a huge Gail Devers fan, I almost hope she doesn't make it in the flat 100, so she will be more likley to concentrate on the hurdles. I would love to see her add that final "bullet" to her resume, the Oly Gold 100H, but at the same time I want to see a fantastic Olympic final, with Felicien, Alozie, Ennis-London, Foster and Gail all in it, plus ???
Can't wait,
Alan Shank
