Who would you add to a relay team of Michael Norman and Fred Kerlee to attack the record this year? Possibly Noah Lyles, and who else?

From the Records section, here are the splits for the 2:54.29 WR:
Andrew Valmon 44.5, Quincy Watts 43.6, Butch Reynolds 43.23, Michael Johnson 42.94
I just don't see four U.S. guys right now who could match those splits in a single race, with no competition to speak of.

For some reason I thought you were talking about a meet record or something because that world record is stuck for a while.
The 2 greatest US 400 runners since MJ and the greatest combined 400/400h runner ever teamed up on 2 major occasions and couldn't get within a second of the record....
I would even say, If there was an all-star team of WVN, James, Merritt, and Kerley at their best, I'm not even sure I would be confident enough to bet on them breaking it.
