Meanwhile...
We got 5 more inches of snow last night...
Eugene has never received this much snow this late in the season in about 125 years of record-keeping, Neuman said.
“If 12 inches hadn’t fallen, people would be be jumping up and down in joy or anger, depending on the person,” he said. “Now they’re all just pretty unhappy.”

Alferd ....right...the CU dining area in the student center is named after our hero. I've had lunch many times there....
In 1968, students at the University of Colorado Boulder named their new cafeteria grill the "Alferd G. Packer Memorial Grill", with the slogan, "Have a friend for lunch!" Students can order an "El Canibal" beefburger, and on the wall is a giant map outlining Packer's travels through Colorado. It has since been renamed the Alferd Packer Restaurant & Grill.
When the streets clear up I'll get a new Hayward photo and right the ship again.Last edited by Conor Dary; 02-26-2019, 08:58 PM.

Alferd Packer, not Alfred. Even the cartoon got it wrong.

And I think this thread has gone off the rails.

Dr. Jay knows like anyone who has been to Boulder....
As for posting pictures it's not hard.....
The easiest is finding a copy online...click the picture to get 'copy picture location' option, which doesn't always work, and copy..
Here you type and paste the image where I wrote.
To do it from your computer or smartphone you have to upload it somewhere online first, FB, etc. and copy that image and do the same.
There is a way to do it directly from a computer but it only posts a thumbnail and looks like crap.Last edited by Conor Dary; 02-26-2019, 08:27 PM.

There's an absolutely great old Far Side cartoon about the Donner Party (I sent it earlier to Dr Jay but I can't figure out how to post pictures on this board).
A group of people are standing around a statue that reads at the base "Donner Party Memorial" - the statue is a sandwich - two pieces of bread with a foot in it.
