Conor and I had fun milking a libation or two while chatting about T&F, message board members, Eugene, politics, etc., all while watching the snow fall on Eugene. An excellent time - highly recommended!

Points all brought up before hand....the only possibly on the sun problem that has been mentioned is some polarizing filter that darkens ...otherwise ... and lack of protection from the rain would be awful for spring meets....

Anyways the picture is still so vague....I'd like to see some actual plans ...

The second picture on the Twitter link really makes it look like the roof is not going to protect many people from rain. And now I wonder if those translucent panels might make conditions worse on the home straight side, on 90°+ summer days. Looks like they could cause a greenhouse effect in those stands, instead of shading the fans.

Dogs work better. Tractors or ponies, not so much.

    Meanwhile...

We got 5 more inches of snow last night...

Eugene has never received this much snow this late in the season in about 125 years of record-keeping, Neuman said.

“If 12 inches hadn’t fallen, people would be be jumping up and down in joy or anger, depending on the person,” he said. “Now they’re all just pretty unhappy.”

Alferd ....right...the CU dining area in the student center is named after our hero. I've had lunch many times there....

In 1968, students at the University of Colorado Boulder named their new cafeteria grill the "Alferd G. Packer Memorial Grill", with the slogan, "Have a friend for lunch!" Students can order an "El Canibal" beefburger, and on the wall is a giant map outlining Packer's travels through Colorado. It has since been renamed the Alferd Packer Restaurant & Grill.

When the streets clear up I'll get a new Hayward photo and right the ship again.
