12,500 is a similar size to Crystal Palace.

In defence of Eugene vs European stadiums, most of the US is much more sparsely populated than most parts of Europe. For example, Oregon is bigger than the UK but it's population is about half that of Greater London. I would have thought that few cities of Eugene's side have a T&F stadium with a capacity in 5 figures.

The old Hayward was far better than Crystal Palace which I went to many times. The new one is amazing. Zurich was definitely great and about 20,000 I think.

Hayward is unique in the US. Lots of football stadiums with a track.

I assume you mean ones that don't double as football stadiums. Also I guess it depends on your defintion of "few". Because there are probably literally dozens of high school football stadiums in Texas that seat more than 10K. Also there are roughly 150 FCS football stadiums that seat 10K or more and the vast majority of those still have tracks around them I believe.

I would not suggest I am sure. I would suggest it is highly likely that it is still more than half, but I might be wrong and I am too lazy to google map a 150 stadiums.

To be honest, being better than Crystal Palace isn't that difficult as it started looking very tired about 30 years ago. That's without even thinking of how awful it is to get to by road.

I think you missed a little detail, I said FCS not FBS. Almost zero (definitely less than ten maybe less than five) of the big schools still have tracks around there football stadiums. This is the next tier down that used to be called 1AA.

You're right--I was thinking FBS. (Not being a football fan, I forgot the distinction.) And you're right--there are probably quite a few FCS schools that still have tracks around their football field.
