For some big fun tomorrow & maybe Thursday you can remote in to the UofOregon Board of Trustees meeting as they discuss & approve the use of Hayward Field for the 2022 WCs. Not much chance that the plan will get rejected . . .

While the event is being hosted by an outside organization — Oregon22 — UO still needs board approval to move forward with the event.

"At this time, the university estimates the total value of anticipated (money paid) to the university for these services would be between $4 million and $6 million," board documents state. "As this window makes it reasonably possible that the aggregate total will exceed $5 million — the threshold requiring Board of Trustees’ approval — the university seeks approval at this stage to ensure appropriate delegated authority to negotiate the contracts in a timely manner."

Meanwhile...doing some analysis...the temporary seats in the north are going to be pretty poor. The only place to put them from what I can see is outside the gates on 15th...the ramp starts immediately after you enter and it is the only way to the west grandstand...the East side is assessed by a long flight of stairs so there is no room in that corner.

The temporary seats in the old Hayward were actually not bad at all...right next to the track. The temporary seats now will be more like the rooftop seats at Wrigley Field which are across the seats. And no way they are going to get more than a few thousand if that.

So total capacity is <20,000.

Unrelated to temporary seating....there's no access to the West side from the south end, SW or NW corners? Limited ingress and egress was part of the problem with old Hayward.

Maybe...not now...but there is a ramp at the south end on Agate that leads somewhere.....but now only athletes and officials use that entrance. But I suspect they will open that ramp up soon for everyone. Then again maybe not...hard to know what is going on.

I just ordered a copy--total cost $47.45 with shipping, etc!
The only Hayward I've known is the old one, so this is a good memory book!

Haven't read it yet, but looked at the entire book, front to back!!
It's FANTASTIC!!!!!
So many great memories relived, and with incredible photos!!
A MUST HAVE for anyone who's ever been to the old Hayward Field!
(I attended an uncountable number of meets there, ran in All Comers meets, and ran training runs on that world famous track--even though I was many miles from any sort of elite status!!)
