I assume that the marathon times of Mosop, Gebremariam and Hall are those from the wind-aided 2011 Boston.

Using the 2017 IAAF Tables I get ~1216, ~1252 and ~1232 for Rupp going off of memory (12:58+, 26:44, and 2:06:07), which totals 3700 for 10th, which might be 9th or even 8th depending on the exact times. Am I missing the marks? Also, if you take out the windy marks, he might be two places higher. Given that he has not run in a "fast" race and that he did not chase times too much puts him in pretty good company.

These were the best times available on www.alltime-athletics.com
from the relevant "OK" outdoor table for each event - basically the first table on each event page.

Boston races are definitely included for marathon but if you want to see exactly what's included/excluded, just go to pela's site.

As I noted above, I extracted the data on 10 May assuming that Prague (6 May) would have been updated as pela usually does this same or next day (he's amazing!).

However, I re-checked after your post and the 2018 Prague results were not included as at 10 May, so obviously weren't included in my calculations.

This means Rupp's previous 2:09.20 was used along with his 12:58.90 and 26:44.36. At least you know where he was ranked before Prague!

The data manipulation was quick and dirty, so is only semi automated. I'll look at how much effort there is to update the table and get back to the thread.

Plus, Boston Billy won several marathons, and many other road race titles---and he had Shorter and even Salazar as some of his major competitors.

So how much has Rupp run with pacers, not very much and there were fewer than typical at Prague, I believe. You do not have to redo the entire data dump/calculations. You can just edit in the difference between his 2:09 and 2:06 which 66 points; that improves his total to 3704 in to 8th place - which is vastly different than 22nd. An improvement to 2:04:00 (which is a lot but certainly possible) would move him to 3744, probably in to fifth if you take out the heavily wind-aided Boston marks.

No, I do not think that he is in the same league as Shorter or even Rodgers; Shorter was the only American that ever dominated the event, although Rodgers was unlucky with an injury in 76 and a boycott in 80 (but he was in decline and there was more competition by then).

                Don't believe the chart from all-time athletics.com include's Farah's recent 2:06:21 at London Marathon.

That would add about 35-40 points and move him up to #6 or so (and move Rupp down one). I do not think either of those two are done yet, although Rupp is looking at another non-paced, sometimes warm race at Chicago. Farah's mark is probably 60-90 seconds slower than he might have run under nicer conditions. Also, is Groumi's mark from a period where he was caught doping upon retesting (I think he was so identified, but cannot remember for sure).

                    Well, I did.

Here is the latest data for all distances from www.alltime-athletics.com as at 20 May 2018. The marathon page didn't include London, so I added that manually for all athletes meeting pela's parameters. I also used proper rankings rather than straight numeration of records.

I will add a new thread for this combination scoring with link to full data so it's easy to find.

This comment about the space limit makes me realize that I can probably use Wordpad to insert things that take too much space coming from other programs that pack in extra "stuff" that counts in the limitation.

Text is pretty size efficient. The post limit is 8,000 characters, including spaces and formatting tags, which is what my post above just squeezed into.

Although the text attachment size is hardly generous at 19.5k I could make an extra six columns and 65 rows of data available and still have a bit of space to spare. Note that a .doc file attachment has the same size limit as text but an empty .doc file is 13k by itself!
