  • London DL 2018

Just the day after Monaco and Entries are out with some high quality fields as well. Many are jumping over from Monaco, while some had to choose between the two since London has almost every event.

A few events from skimming through

MPV - They wont be jumping with any Poles here
M400 - 2nd race of the year for Kirani James
M100 - Everyone, really only Vicaut Rodgers and Su missing. Appreciate that we have been getting the best on a consistent basis unlike in previous years....
MLJ - Everyone! improvement for Echevarria
M5000m - Kejelcha and everyone else
W100mH - Everyone again, McNeal and Harrison havent run together in a while.
W200m - Pretty much the top ladies from the Monaco 100m plus Asher-Smith, Jackson and Gabrielle Thomas 9 ladies running here.
    WMile - Pretty nice field

vs Samba which should be intriguing...Samba's first Euro flat run this season...His PR is 45,47A... Any chance mid-44s?

Given that they need to compete in the NC the following day, it's no surprise they won't be in London.

He and Warholm win the Eclipse Award this year. Both were the stars last year and are having great years this year, but someone new has come upon the scene for both of them and taken away the limelight.

Crazy to think that Warholm has literally run equal to or faster than his previous best in all his races yet has essentially not even come close to winning this year.

I thought you Poles were tough? . I'll let you off, seeing as it's the NCs.
In 86 Heike competed in Oslo in the w100 at 22:00 and then was running in Moscow the next afternoon at the GWG. It's a 2hr30min flight from Oslo to Moscow, same as London to Warsaw. Wimps

Any idea what pace is being called for in the Women's Mile?
With Simpson, Martinez, and Grace, we could have 3 US women go sub-4:20!!

Nothing official, but with Hassan, Obiri, Muir, Simpson and Tsegay I think they'll attack MR, american record and british record, 4.16/4.17. So I think required pace could be 1.02/2.07.
Last year, with Obiri and Muir, intermediate times were 1.02 / 2.07
Also last year in Lausanne Genzebe Dibaba for her WR attack required 1.02/2.05/2.36 (1000m). Intermediate times were 1.01/2.06.
Final result of both races was 4.16.

It was announced a couple of months back that Muir was going for the British re (still held by Zola Budd from 1985).

                            Betting the farm?
I live in an apt in a 9 story building!
Never lived on a farm---and never owned one!

Seriously, Martinez has a 1500 best of under 4:02.
Add 18 seconds for the final 109 meters, and you have a 4:20.

I said I'd love to see that happen---NOT that it would!!
                            (Best bet would be Simpson!)
