Hughes looked very good in 9.97, and Blake with his first sub-10 of the year.

Baker looks like the favourite for the final winning his heat in a comfortable 9.9. Simbine will be dangerous, too, as his 9.93 looked pretty good.

Big PR for Samba in the m400m. His 44.62 makes him faster than Benjamin (44.74) over the flat.

Benjamin is almost certainly much faster than that 44.74 which was run in April.

Yet another fast run for "PR" Paul Dedewo, with a 44.43 in 2nd behind Haroun.

Mondo, Kendricks and Lavillenie all still in it. Kendricks cleared 5.92m on his first attempt, so looks like everyone will be passing up to 5.97m now.

Does Karholm try for another sub-48.00 or NR? He's the only one under 48.00 out there, by far.

Huge win for Warholm proving he doesn't need to be "pulled" by Samba to run well. 47.65 PB essentially all alone.

Shelly is looking good in the w100. This morning, I thought it'd be between her and Wei Yongli; but it would depend on which Wei shows up; the one who rarely runs well outside of Asia, or the one who runs well in Asia or in a race with B-listers, as exemplified by her 10.99 and 11.07 in Switzerland. She's obviously getting ready for the Asian Games.

                      Time-trial for Warholm. Nicely done.

Warholm won't be giving up his world title easily next year. That was really impressive.

Methinks Clement (49.43) might be looking at retirement this year or next. Did he catch an injury before the season started?

As for the men, will Ronnie Baker drop another PR today?

Shelly 10.98. Slowly but surely, she's coming. Bryant 11.04, Smith 11.07, Wei 11.10.

Methinks Shelly could possibly tag Ta Lou in one of the last 2 DL meets. 10.85 used to be child's play for her.

                                J Smith 3rd 11.07 PB
