Kipsang over a minute back now.

Dibaba had trouble getting her bottle after 20K
    1:05:31 -- 2:18:15 current pace, 2:18:13 avg. pace, i.e. almost the same.
    halfway 1:09:03
Cherono, Aga, Tola 7 seconds back.

This is a totally different kind of "race" from the usual championship marathon, where you see a pack and runners gradually dropping off the pace.
1:12:24 for 25 K -- 2:02:09 current pace, 2:02:12 avg. pace. Now moving at average pace and with plenty of slack on WR pace.

Kipsang has dropped back of other runners.

Kipchoge has left Josphat Bett, who has stopped. Great job, Bett.

        Amos Kipruto is in 2nd, Kipsang 3rd. It's Kipruto's 26th birthday today.

          28th kilo 2:55
Hutchings is worried that Kipchoge is going too fast for this part of the race.

Cherono has taken the lead from Dibaba!
          1:21:52 at 25 km -- 2:18:06 current pace, 2:18:10 avg. pace
          Dibaba was 3 seconds back.

Keep in mind that in the raceway event, he averaged 14:17 per 5 km until the last 7 km.
              Here: 14:24, 14:37, 14:37, 14:18, 14:28, 14:21

Kipsang seems to be leaving his pacers now.
Kipruto is 1:56 back of Kipchoge.
              Kipsang 39 behind Kipruto.

Cherono leads Ruti Aga, can't even see Dibaba.
This one is a RACE, but too many men around them.
                I like separate races.

Edna Kiplagat has passed Dibaba for 3rd place.

Cherono and Aga 1:38:04 at 30 km. 2:17:35 at current pace, 2:17:56 avg. pace. That last 5km was 16:12, the fastest of the race.

                    1:41:03 at 35 km (14:18!!) 2:01:38 current pace, 2:01:49 at avg. pace
They were talking about how Dennis Kimetto (sp?) ran 14:21 between 30 and 35 in his WR race, but Kipchoge has gone even faster.

It looks like the WR is toast!

The lead car has a clock, with his last kilo time and projected finish time, so he knows exactly where he is, relative to the WR.
1:47:17 with 5 km to go. He has a big cushion, but his last kilo was about 3 minutes.

                          They're completely ignoring the women.
                          Understandable, I guess.

Can we get two WR's in one day in two different events? Has this ever happened before?

                                Kipruto 2nd, Kipsang 3rd, 2:06+
Still waiting for 35 km for the women.
