Just read the facts of the murder. She apparently had contacted police 20 times regarding her fears of harm, she told the police every detail regarding the suspect and yet almost nothing was done to protect her. It is no wonder the University admitted blame. They had no choice on the facts. But they also have to draw in tuition paying students and must send a message that student safety on campus is the highest priority.

On another note, I love animals , especially dogs and cats but having a portion of the settlement go to animal shelters seemed odd and distracting. The parents should have donated that from their part of the settlement rather than obscure the message of student safety.
