Heck, she's even #13 on the HS list this year at 200m (24.11)

          600 is her perfect distance

Watching her live today, another 200 did not look like it would be tough. I don’t see 1’56” this year as unreachable in a good fast race. Just smooth and smart and patient. Charismatic at the podium too.

The way Mu held off Rogers down the stretch was very impressive.

Sure was. In addition to her considerable physical talent, she has a monstrous competitive fire. She was not going to back down from Rogers’ challenge. Exciting times ahead for her and us!

That was certainly a highlight of the meet. Now, if it had been Ajeé . . .. we would have witnessed the present and future of American 800 excellence.

Had Ajee Wilson been in that 600m instead of 1k maybe the WR could have fallen. BTW, Mu's performance was even more impressive because of that slow second 200m (running 26.0 29.0 28.5 is no joke, with a better pacing she could probably have run something even faster). She is a huge talent, no doubts on this.

Having interviewed her 3 times, she is an absolute delight. As awesome a person as she is an athlete (early impressions).

Every time i read about another American super talent, i am reminded of Mary Cain, Kaylin Whitney, Candace Hill. I hope she doesn't sign a Nike contract too soon and disappears into mediocrity like so many others.

But teen prodigies fading into obscurity isn't a specifically American phenomenon. It happens everywhere.

But how many European top talents get big contracts at age 16/17 ?
