The college indoor season is sooooo 5 minutes ago . . . time for the outdoor season.

The current leader in the mDT at 183-2 (55.83) is a Cal soph with a GREAT, but also rather dicey name:

    Iffy Joyner

I'd go by Iffy too, if my real first name was also Ifeanyichukwu.

Dani Jones is the only one I can think of.

Don't apologize. It's not your fault. It's mainly a matter of where you grew up. My guess is that it was not the Northeast.

I'm always happy to see the outdoor season come around, collegiate and otherwise, because it's more T&F. But I really enjoy the indoor version of this sport, and I did again this year.

Olivia Gruver redshirted indoors, but I think mainly because she still has another (partial) year of school due to transferring, so there are benefits for her to competing next year.

I _think_ she plans to compete for UW outdoors this year.

In our Gruver story in the January issue she mentioned she was excited to go for a 3-peat

You are correct. I did not grow up in the Northeast. (I grew up in Alabama, but I have lived in Houston, Tx for over 40 years). I do not understand why we even run indoor track here in Houston. The last indoor meet I went to was at the University of Houston. The temperature outdoors that day was in the high seventies.

Given its status as the Air Conditioning Capital of the World, I could make a case that many outdoor meets in Houston during the warm weather months should be moved indoors!

I respectfully disagree. LOL!! Although I understand what you are saying. It can get rather toasty here in Houston. I guess the main problem I have with indoor track is the lack of events. (no 100meters, no 4x1, no 400 meter hurdles, etc.) Now, if it was possible to put a full size, 400 meter 8 lane track indoors then I would be ok with it. LOL!!!

I grew up in the Northeast, and indoor track was a big deal. I remember when they introduced indoor track to Southern California. I thought it was strange. I loved indoor track (and still do), but I didn't see the point of running indoors when the weather was perfectly good for outdoors.

That is exactly the point I was trying to make.
