  • Boys and Girls Champs 2019 National Stadium

Meet was from Last Tuesday to Saturday
I was there Friday and Saturday
    Notable performances.
Ashanti Moore 11.17 +1.0 Joint World Lead (with Natalliah Whyte) in Girls Class 1 100m
    Kevona Davis 11.19 +1.4 in Girls Class 2 100m
Tina Clayton 11.27 +1.4 age 14 world best in Girls Class 3 100m beating her twin sister Tia's former record of 11.37 done a few weeks ago. Interestingly Tia usually beats Tina over 100 and Tina usually beats Tia over 200 but at Champs it was the other way around. Brianna Lyston was third in both races.
    Oblique Seville 10.13 +1.4 in Boys Class 1 100m
    Ryiem Robertson 10.19 +1.4 in Boys Class 1 100m
    Christopher Scott 10.69 -0.2 in Boys Class 3 100m heats (13 yo)
Wayne Pinnock 8.05 -0.8 in Class 1 Long Jump and 13.06 -0.8 in Class 1 110mh (both records)
Kimar Farquharson 1:48.67 in the 800m Class 1 to break a 32 year old record. I was a year out of 12th Grade when that record was set

Wayne Pinnock of Kingston College (my alma mater) was the MVP of the meet winning the long jump in 8.05M 26ft 4 15/16 inches better than Matthew Boling by a smidgen and then winning the 110m hurdles in 13.06 also doing a fine 1st leg on the victorious 4x100m relay.
          Fortis!!

There are very few countries in the world where their national open championships would be able to surpass the quality of performance of Jamaica's Boys and Girls champs.
