This an interesting change. Latest NWS forecast shows 70% chance of rain between 7am and 6pm and then dropping to 40% from 7pm on. Of course the real concern is likely lightning which seems quite possible almost any time this storm produces rain. Am I left to presume they moved up the schedule to allow for a break in the action of two hours or more without pushing the action past midnight?

          another update from the NCAA

          All,

After further review of weather and discussion with ESPN the decision has been made to move all running events, with the exception of the 10k, up another 30 minutes. The most updated schedule is now listed below and running events will be televised on ESPN2 barring further weather delays.

Decisions on the pole vault and hammer for Friday have not been finalized at this point.

"Listed below"...where? The following got updated for the first schedule change. Has it been updated a second time for the new schedule change? Or is there somewhere else to look?

So, for example, the original schedule linked as a pdf at the following link--Meet Schedule (In Flux)--had the men's steeple finals starting at 7:02 p.m.

2019 Results/Start Lists (has latest timetable updates) Meet Schedule (in flux) ESPN Streaming Schedule T&FN Men’s Formchart T&FN Women’s Formchart... Read More

So the NCAA then moved the steeplechase and other running events, except the 10000, up two hours. That would make it 5:02 p.m., which is what the following is now showing.

Schedule Updated 2/8/2024 wEDNESDAY, June 5 Track Events     Time (PT) Event Round Division 4:32 PM 4x100 Relay Semifinal Men 4:46 PM 1500 Meters Semifinal Men 5:02 PM 3000 Steeplechase Semifinal Men 5:32 PM 110 Hurdles Semifinal Men 5:46 PM 100 Meters Semifinal Men 6:00 PM 400 Meters Semifinal Men 6:14 PM 800 Meters Semifinal Men 6:30 PM 4

Except we're now told they're moving the running events, again except for the 10000, "up another 30 minutes...." That would put the steeple at 4:32 p.m. But I'm not finding a re-revised schedule, NCAA, showing that.

I guess I should just wait until after the 8:00 p.m. NCAA decision on other stuff. Or wait until tomorrow morning and see what the NCAA meet website has or the T&FN message boards have posted.

Latest NWS forecast drops chance of rain for 7 and after to 30%. Not exactly sure I understand this time change madness.

Anyone know how ESPN is handling the change? Originally it was live beginning at 6:30 local time. My listings (and the listings on ESPN.com) have the schedule the same (6:30 local time).

Let's hope they've already got the cameras ready, but haven't updated the website.
                            That's not an unreasonable supposition.

just posted on the decathlon thread:

<<Hard rain for the men's 100. Rain started about 11:45, and the event starts at noon.>>
