  • Doha WRs

I see an article about this, so commence speculation.

    Men
    400 - possible, unlikely.
    400H - ditto
PV - ditto. Mondo is the wild card, as in, he COULD.
    TJ - long shot
SP - we're getting there, but not yet
DT - wind dependent. Stahl or Dacres could catch one and if the wind is right . . . but in THIS stadium I doubt it.
    Dec - Mayer ready again?

    Women
1500 - Hassan mighta coulda, but ain't running it. Is G Dib ready?
St - Chepkoech put it beyond her own reach?
5000 - could, but will the pace dawdle?
    10000 - ditto, less likely
    100H - unlikely
400H - best chance in the meet. Two under?
    HJ - Lasits capable
    TJ - Rojas ready?
    Hep - Thiam extreme longshot

I would say that men's 4x4 is an outside possibility.

W HT, W 10,000 were broken at the Olympics. There have been other WRs set in Oly/Worlds, but since broken, W JT, for one.
          Anders Garderud, long time ago.
Setting a WR in a global championship is the ultimate achievement in athletics.

I think the men's 400H is more likely to go than the women's.

Not sure it's more likely, but I believe the chances are pretty good. The two 400Hs look like the best WR chances to me by a long way.

                800

                Amos any chance?

                800

Is Semenya officially out? I can't keep up with the mess with her issue.

Yeah, but it will be the third race in 4 days for both. OTOH, 1968, 1972, 1992 for men, 1993 and 1995 for women.

BTW, I have an Excel spreadsheet of the Doha schedule, three sheets:
                  1. chronological
                  2. by event -- so you can see how much rest, and which doubles are (im)possible
                  3. just finals

If anyone is interested, PM me.
                  Cheers,
                  Alan Shank

Swiss Federal Tribunal rejected her claim, so for the moment, at least, CAS's acceptance of the IAAF's protocol is the law of the land. Her lawdudette said it wasn't over yet.

Was she referring to Doha or to the ultimate outcome? From what I've read, there's no way Semenya's going to compete in Doha, although it's possible that she will eventually emerge from all of the legal processes with a win. In that sense, it isn't over yet.

                      Edited to fix typo.

Like you noticed yourself, 400H WRs have historically mostly been set in a championship setting (sometimes with tougher schedules than we have today). And an athlete who's ready to break the record will be able to take it fairly easy in the rounds.

                          They always say that....

I think an iceberg is more likely to appear in Doha than Semenya running in the 800.

One is due to arrive in the UAE some time soon, so why not Qatar?
