    Zurich DL

Rather than discussing the Fantasy Game, let's talk anout the FANTASTIC fields!

Many of them have ALL the Doha favorites in them

    wTJ - all but Ibarg
mHJ - FINALLY Barshim and Bond reemerge. This should answer lots of ?s about this lackluster mHJ season!
    mPV - everyone!
    wJT - everyone!
    wSP - everyone!
w400 - Naser but no SMU or Seyni
    m800 - everyone!
wSt - everyone (but no Frerichs)
w200 - SMU and ET but no SAFP
    mLJ - everyone
    w1500 - everyone PLUS Hassan
    mJT - everyone!
    w4H - everyone (WR again?!)
m100 - Everyone PLUS Lyles (no CC)
    m5K - Everyone plus TBek.
m400 - Still no Samba, but Rai and Warholm is enough. Samba condition?

No watching this on DVR - this one's gotta be live (TV and Gold).

I imagine some initial passing by the overlords will alleviate some of the congestion.
Plus, the Doha final will have 12, so ya better get used to it.

Also of note, next year's (and 2021's) Zurich meet will be MORE insanely good, as it will host all the DL finales.

It wouldn’t surprise me if there are at least 6-7 guys left at 5.90.

Five of the top 11 vaulters of all-time are there. How often has THAT happened in any event?

Kszczot is missing! So, they don't have everyone in the men's 800.

Remember this is the DL final athletes needed to qualify for. Kipyegon didn't even run any DL 1500m races. Samba ran only one DL 400mH and ultimately didn't accumulate enough points. So ultimately everyone is there except the select few who didn't qualify or (I'm guessing) did qualify but didn't want to run, like Laura Muir.
Seems like the only people who were invited were a few Swiss athletes.

Agreed - and ordinarily I prefer my elite PVs to have fewer people and more aggressive bar increases, but right now, with the WC a month away and little chance of another summit, I wanna see (and I even think the athletes do too - as part of their prep) a situation more akin to what they'll face in Doha. It's all about the prep now.

The usual suspects will still jump high - wouldn't surprise anyone if M, K, and L all went 6.

I'm very curious to see what Thiago Braz does. He looked terrific in Monaco, then did terribly in Lima.

Braz isn't exactly a model of consistency. He's been up and down his entire career. His only consistent year was 2016. And we saw how that turned out for him.

Of those qualified for the finals, these are not on the entry list as of today:
                              Ibarguen and Saladukha W TJ
                              Bondarenko and Sawe M HJ
Botlogetswe, Seyni and S Jackson W 400 (this field is seriously depleted)
                              Chemutai and Frerichs W SC
                              Henderson M LJ
                              Muir and Weightman W 1500
                              Liu M JT
                              Coleman M 100
                              Ahmed M 5000
Several of these may be at the African Games in Rabat, starting today.
                              Cheers,
                              Alan Shank
