      lol. 1:20, 1:30, what's 10 minutes in a 20k?

Glanced at that and thought "this poster CR has some optimistic predictions!" It was the 18.29 TJ that made me come to my senses (it was about 6:20 AM).

I've updated the table with Sasuke's picks.

Unfortunately, it is too big so I uploaded as an .html file that should open in your browser.

If it just gives you all the code, save the file to a local drive and then it should open.

Interesting everyone thinks the mens pole vault will be 6 meters plus but no one is predicting the WR. If someone wins with a jump over 6 meters they are going to try the WR!

My prediction go big or go home! Mpv: 6.17!

I wish the women's TJ was before the men's. I think Rojas has a better chance of breaking the WR than Taylor, and seeing her do it may have fired him up.

I believe these are the slowest of the marathon predictions here yet, but wonder if even they may be optimistic. Was looking at exercise physiologist and coach Tom Schwartz's Heat Index and Running Performance chart online, and if anywhere close to reality, it suggests times could be much slower. See:

                    https://www.ncacoach.org/uploads/HazenCC5.pdf

For example, at a heat index of 110F/43.3C (within a degree F of the currently predicted race-time conditions of 89.5F/32C and 81F/27C dew point), a 2:05 marathon effort for the men would in theory convert to 2:22. On the women's side, a 2:19 effort would equate to 2:38.

Again, that's in theory, and of course if there are no on-course facilities present like frequent water-spray corridors and such. Otherwise, really concerned about the prospects for an ugly survival-shuffle Waterloo out there.

Regarding my guesses: both the marathons (and the race walks) will be run in harsh to extreme conditions. Sincerely, I don't think we are going to see "good" times at all and, I fear, tons of athletes will retire because of the severe heat. I think it's going to be a survival race rather than a normal competition.
As of the mPV, I think Mondo will bring his A+ game (he has never jumped the way he jumped at EC last year, each bar passed with ton of height to spare, including 6.05m, when he called it a day; if he is in this kind of shape, I don't think Kendricks or Lisek will have any chances), but I don't think he is capable of beating Lavillenie's mark... YET. My expectations are a competition with three men jumping at 6m, with only Mondo and Kendricks clearing it. Then only Mondo will go higher. To compare with last year I think Kendricks will be Berlin's Timur Morgunov.

I saw one thing that indicated that they can get it 10C below ambient but that is still pretty warm. If it is ~80F/27C that is fine for many events but it is pretty warm for the distance races. It certainly is not going to be below 20C which would be good temps for those races. Given area dew points about 80/27, what the dew point is in the stadium is particularly relevant (27C for temp but 24 for Dew Point will be quite hard).
