Wale floored it in heat 1; need to run fast to qualify on time this year.

Nigate the young Ethiopean was one of 3 fallers after about 30m before tripping on the approach to the first water jump and colliding with it.

Zak Seddon is apparently the first British man to make a worldwide 'chase final since 1993.

For those with long memories, the UK got 3 in the first 6 at the first WC in 1983!

Colin Reitz got the bronze after Henry Marsh, who'd been in 2nd, tripped on the last barrier while trying to catch Ilg.

Reitz was asked - pretty bluntly - if he thought that devalued his medal; and he replied, equally bluntly, that clearing the barriers was part of the event.

Kipruto was clowning in the last 150. Seemed ridiculous. He has nothing on Ezekiel Kemboi!

Who was the starter of the men's Steeplechase? And why didn't he restart the race after the fall that occurred in the first 30 meters?

Doesn't that just happen in the NCAA and US High school meets? (I've always thought it daft that it does.)

I've never seen it in a meeting other than those.

After they've gone a few steps I don't think the starter actually has any authority to stop the race.

Is this the most unanticipated event of the championships?

I wanna see if El B can hold off Kigen and the Ethi's.
I would venture that given the conditions, the two 50Ws were not generating a lot of heat (bork, bork).

I wouldnt be surprised if Kipruto got on the podium, even gold honestly.

Yeah, Kipruto's form is still really hard to assess, but he looked good in the heats.

Not for me! I love the steeple!

Plenty of storylines. Can Kipruto get back to somewhere near his best to take gold? How will the somewhat patchy El Bakkali do? Both are capable of looking like crap but then making up a 30m deficit on the last lap to win. Can the Ethiopians make a breakthrough in this event?

And now we have a Brit in the final for the first time in 26 years!
