When was the last gold of note for USA? Wottle in 1972?

Yes, Wottle. I remember Johnny Grays run in Barcelona. I really thought he had it until he got passed by General William Tanui & Nixon Kiprotich in the homestretch. All 3 looked like they were being stabbed in the last 100 yards. Wasnt pretty, but it was a great race.

I've got Brazier winning in about 1:44.5 without the benefit of a pacemaking rabbit like Abda that he had in Zurich for his dramatic come-from-behind victory.

Njiel Amos has scratched due to very recent Achilles injury per his Instagram post this morning.

                  Kszczot 5th in his heat!

Still in line for a time qualifying spot though.

Kszczot not looking good... He'll probably qualify as fastest, erm, time qualifier, but he doesn't look like a contender. The knee injury he suffered at the Skolimowska Memorial might have affected him.

Kszczot will make it, as will all 4 Americans (Kidder got the last q). Langford also a time q

It seems the "summary" page of the m800 (https://www.iaaf.org/competitions/ia.../heats/summary) is missing two "q"s. Hethat (ALG) and Langford (GBR), from Heat 5, were the 2nd & 3rd fastest non-automatic, and yet the summary does not have a "q" next to their names. Plus, there are only 4 "q"s listed, so I think someone forgot to annotate the page correctly.
