The graphical lines are even more ridiculous than in some of the previous events, the displayed 65-meter line is roughly on top of (and actually intersects) the real Q line at 63.50. (On top of that, one of Kitaguchi's throws got mismeasured, although they fixed it later.)

Barber in 5th and Kolak in 6th after group A, neither of them can feel really safe.

Favorites struggling in group A. Tuğsuz out. Barber and Kolak in 5th and 6th may be in, but it could be close. Nobody with a Q, though Liu missed it by just 2 cm.

Was really hoping to see Ince make the final, but 60.44 probably isn't going to cut it. Probably needed 61.50-ish. Hopefully Winger will throw at least that far and get in when 'B' flight rolls around.

The standard is down somewhat compared to the last two editions. In both 2015 and 2017 there were women who didn't make the final with 62+ throws.

Does the relatively dead air in the stadium hurt marks a bit, although not like in the Discus?

I don't think it's significantly deader than in any other major stadium.

                  Only with open gates, though

One of the likely difficulties is that the wind conditions in the stadium are probably very different from outside it and they only get 2 warm-up throws before the competition.

60.56 to start for Winger ... best of 9 throwers so far, but she'll almost certainly need better.

Edit: Whoops, on the next throw a big auto-qualifier by Hussong at 65.29!

Hussong is the first Q with 65.29. The rest of the women in group B are struggling even more than those in group A.

The commentary is saying that the conditions are not very conducive, and the marks not not all that great. However, three recent throws have been long. Ince is now on the bubble. And now just lost it by a few cm (Wingra on the bubble but with two throws left).

Ince is now definitely out. Winger currently in 12th with 60.56.

61.51 on her 2nd puts Winger up to 7th overall. Would be nice to get 62-63 and remove all doubt, but 61.51 could very well advance.
