  • ¶2019 WC mixed 4x4: USA 3:09.34 WR

Just because a certain someone is refusing to start a thread on it, and since it doesn't belong on either men's or women's WC forum anyway, here goes.

    Heats to come today:

    Heat 1
    2 BRN
    3 UKR
    4 FRA
    5 CZE
    6 USA
    7 JAM
    8 GBR
    9 CAN

    Heat 2
    2 IND
    3 BRA
    4 GER
    5 BEL
    6 ITA
    7 KEN
    8 POL
    9 JPN

The heats look somewhat lopsided, with the 3 teams fastest on paper (USA, JAM, GBR) all in one race.

Im guessing Felix runs at least the finals of this as well as the 4x4 prelims in an effort to increase her total career medal count.

And the reason we don't like this event is that several of the better teams will NOT be using their best runners.

"Several" would mean at least three. Which teams would that be?

Looking forward to this one. The selection of personnel will be quite interesting.

GER massively disadvantaged without Laura Muller running, who was their MVP at the World Relays and got them to the final.

It looks like pretty much every team is going with the M-F-F-M order.

A new WR. Will they get 100k in the semis and another 100k in the finals?

They won't. No more than one WR prize per event.

As an aside, Martyn Rooney equals Marlon Devonish's record as a British athlete who has competed at 8 World Champs.

They absolutely need to force random gender orders to make this event exciting. Otherwise what's the point seeing second rate relay runners at a world champs?

Japan the only nation to go WMMW as opposed to MWWM.
