  • Jamaican Sprinters

Look out for the Jamaican sprinters in the near future. For a country so small it is commendable.
We have been a part of this high standard of track and field. This weekend is the CARIFTA game sin Trinidad and Tobaga. LOOK out!

There are several Jamaican sprinters to watch! A couple:

Usain Bolt, World Junior 200m champ, is a very exciting talent. 20.25 at the Jamaican high school champs, followed up with 20.43 into headwind at the recent Carifta Games. Only 16!

Anneisha McLaughlin, who placed 2nd in the 200m at World Juniors. At age 17, she is a sub-23 sprinter. She also ran 52.57 at the recent Carifta Games, not far off her 52.31 PB.

These are the young guns. There are also Veronica Campbell, Aleen Bailey, Julien Dunkley, & other collegians. As usual, Jamaica will continue to be in the mix.

Was very impressed watching Julien Dunkley win the indoor 60m this year.

I hear Bolt has run----yikes--20.25 and 45.35 this year at 16. Any age-group freaks out there know if these are world agegroup records? Hard to believe there have ever been any fast guys barely old enough to drive.

I indeed saw the results on that 20/45 200/400 combination. Even more impressive: he did it at the same meet!

The best 400 i've seen is a 45.16 by Obea Moore back in 1996 But that 20.25 may be the fastest yet for a 16 year old. Jack Shepherd whould be the one to ask.

Just to bring something from the history of the forum and to show Usain has come from a long way
