I watched those four guys from Minnesota win the Texas Relays and was quite certain hell had frozen over. (If memory serves, Baylor DNFed, and they beat Tech and LSU.)

Just a note that three of the four Minnesota 4x4 guys also graduated from high schools in Minnesota!

In addition this year's Minnesota state champ is also running for the Golden Gopher's next year!

even though the next mj will not be coming from minnesota i applaud that university's effort to recruit local kids and get them to their potential. this is unlike many of the other schools who want to get athletes that are ready and experienced at the international level.

First Wariner and now these guys.

Ya got to go all the back to the days of Larrabee and Cassell(60's) to find a couple white cats on the USA 400 scene.

                    Minnesota?

Steele has dropped over 1.5 seconds in the last few weeks. He wasn't even ranked top ten in his region. Maybe not "the next MJ", but he is on a serious improvement curve.

Does anybody know who was the last white guy to win the NCAA 400m or 440y?

Close. Some schools will recruit local kids in the sprints and horizontal jumps - AS LONG AS THEY AREN'T WHITE.

Is that because they're white? Or is it because the other kids happen to pump out better performances? A kid who drops 10.4 or 25-footer, regardless of his race, will get recruited by everybody. Period.
