  • Predict Epelle's marathon time

How about a warm up to the Olympics' contest? Epelle mentioned on another thread that he was running Berlin in his debut. At this point, I wouldn't have a clue but it strikes me that he is an experienced competitive runner at shorter distances. If he'll permit me to ask him 4 questions, none of which will "out" him, I'll take a stab.

    sub-3 - 4:1

    sub 2:30 - 100-1

The bookies are going to kneecap him if he stays on sub-2:30 pace.

AWOL - nice one. Work is now done for the day. Shoot your questions, MJD!

Like those odds... we:ll see what happens between now and the final week of training leading up to the marathon. Just changed running shoes from Nike to Asics -- body is not liking that too much!

              Re: Predict Epelle's marathon time

              Good one, malmo.

Here is my quandry: I stated on another post (Leave the light on) that I think I have this ONE race still in front of me -- some barrier I think I can break if I can get in one good year of uninterrupted, injury-free running/preparation/training and racing.

Marathon was a challenge by my brother-in-law after we competed in the Göteborgsvarvet half-marathon in May. If I run the marathon, I don:t want to loose the little speed I have left in my legs. I won:t hit 47,2r in the quarter again, but I can still kick if I keep away from that longer distance, or?

So what is your goal and when is this? We want to cheer you along the way (not literally geographically)!

                  Re: Predict Epelle's marathon time

2.30 to 2.34. I am a negative-split racer when it comes to long-distance. I don:t like running anything over 5,000m, so I generally go out slower and pick the pace up as the laps (and kilometer markers) come along.

                  Berlin: 26-September.

I got $20 that says you break 2:30 - even money! You can do it, man!

BTW - you must have scared the bookies - the Vegas line just changed to:

                    sub-3:00 - 1 to 2

                    sub-2:30 - even

                    sub-2:20 - 4 to 1

what are your absolute best times at 2 shorter distances, currently (SB's) ?

i'll see what i can come up with (the time predicted is usually a little too quick,as it gives the best times those 2 figures would predict )

your 10k time is excellent, but your 1/2 M is a bit weak in comparison

I'm just impressed that Epelle can do a marathon, considering that the latest eTN (page 278) shows he won the Castres hammer with a throw of 73.42.

No, wait ... that's Epalle. Must be his French cousin.
