Unfortunately it appears Kilmartin will not get the International implement record. From the marks in the shot put, it looks like they are using junior implements. I hope he will try sometime this summer to get into a track meet to go for the International record, or it very well may last ANOTHER 30 years.

Re: Kilmartin unable to go for record
I looked up last year's meet and the report said that last year he asked to use the bigger equipment and they DENIED his request! Doesn't the rule say it must weigh AT LEAST the weight. Who says you can't go heavier? That REALLY makes no sense. ARRRRGHHH I hate bureaucratic officials who think the meet is all about THEIR authority. A competition is for the COMPETITORS and if they don't gain an unfair advantage, it should be legal.

Re: Kilmartin unable to go for record
that was joke, by the way, and oh, by the other way, the definition of a loser is someone who posts multiple times in one thread without anyone else responding. Who could that be (sense the irony here, please)?

Re: Kilmartin unable to go for record
I don't have any official word on the implements, but if Kilmartin is throwing International implements he would have improved about 5-8' in the Shot Put. I don't think so. I know some of the other competitor PR's and they are definitely throwing junior implements.

Our national dish is curry now...I'll be having a pint of Bass soon though! I'm guessing it's some HS-er after the USJ record. Is that it?

Rivers of blood? Hopefully the Islamic fundamentalists won't prevail over the majorities in Birmingham & London. Us limeys must stick together however, please confirm how important curry is. Big day tomorrow: Euro Cup, England vs. Oz at rugby, Lennox here in LA.

Re: Kilmartin unable to go for record
If you look at his results since his sophmore year, there is not a lot of improvement. He said in the SacBee that he has a sore ankle. If that is so, what was he doing Pole Vaulting the weekend before this meet at GWI? He's a great High School Athlete, but some of his comments, including his prediction that he would make the 2004 Olympic team, sort of belittled his elders and have caused some irritation. Last year at the combined Junior\Senior nationals, he reportedly had quite an attitude when approached by some seniors who just wanted to give him some encouragement.
That said, many of the great ones have such an attitude. But in the end, Brigham's record still stands.
