    Re: Halkia's advantage revealed

    >"Greeks were born to be winners; they are born to be first. It's inscribed in our cells. It is the best gift our ancestors bequethed upon us."<

... And thus this quote advances to the finals of the Women's "Stupidest Comment by a 2004 Olympics Athelete" event.

And at this late stage in the competition, most experts expect this statement to win the Gold in a breeze.

If her name shows up on Balco records, it will only be more evidence of the U.S. conspiracy against Greek athletes. . .

Why are you guys being such assholes? I really enjoyed what she had to say. And as for the really ignorant 400 yrs under Turkish rule comment, They actually did win in the end, they have their own country. If anything, I would have used Macedonia, as they were actually subject to Greece up until Philip and Alexander. Perhaps Rome. But, no, wait, the Romans idolized the Greek ways... Hmmm, no, I still say she was perfectly acceptable in her comments and I appreciated the way she payed homage to the ancients...
