  • Women's 4x400 Finals

Who will run for the US in the finals?
The US team with the fastest qualifing time included the 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th place finishers in the US trials.

Do they need to be faster in the final?
Do they need any more experience? They have both in reserve if needed.

Or will they go with the freshest available which may be the current foursome.

Russia had the fastest qualifying time overall(US fastest in group 2). Any team would like to be faster in the final or every time they compete. Is this what you're asking, Gerald? Answer seems obvious.

My guess is they'll put Hennagan, Richards, Trotter and Henderson in the finals. Word is that Henderson is the fastest in training camp among the 4th, 5th and 6th runners from the Sacramento trials.

Henderson may have demonstrated that today!

I'm hoping for big things from Kaur tomorrow.

Yes, Manjeet Kaur ran the 2nd fastest split today (49.85) only behind Monique Henderson's 49.64. Where was Kaur hiding all along?

                Thanks Bruin,

You appear to detect that I had a hidden agenda in my question as the answers were quite obvious. If so, you were right. I have been a HUGE JMC fan since college, but I had not seen her splits in recent relay tune-ups. Her earlier times and experience would help the team, but apparently not by much.

Of course the six others in the pool are an average of 15 years younger than Jearl and they are the future if not the present for US 400M. They all have lower PRs in their future and I hope to see a great race today.

I'm gonna go with the Russkies in this one. This has been an Olympics to forget for most of the US women's squad with the exception of Williams, Felix, Hayes, and Morrison.

They are definitely running Trotter, Henderson, Richards, and Hennegan, but I don't know which order. They may use the line-up of Trotter-Hennegan-Henderson-Richards. This line-up will get them out early and they will probably have the lead going into the final leg. Sanya Richards isn't that easy to catch as we saw last year.

I think the US youngsters have a good shot at gold. These girls are pure relayists!
