OK - in an effort to put a positive spin on US distance running (and to give poor Mr. Webb a break) - maybe some of you guys/gals who have seen them run can clue me in as to who is/are the U.S. runners with the best chance to make an impact in 2004-2008? Lincoln, Torres, Johnson, Webb, Meb, Cullpepper, Lunn, David K., Ritz, or ??? and what you see as their strengths? - I need someone to cheer for....

I think we have to support good ol David K. It's clear that his moving to Tucson to train with Patrick Nduwimana and others (I believe Seneca Lassiter, Legat, and Abdiraham are also out there)was a great move. Luiz really seems to be working out for him. After what he proved last summer on the circuit and this past indoor championships, it's hard to ignore him. Only one problem. He isn't a very flashy in your face, strong presence type of guy. Kind of a bland treat for track fans. If he could try to make himself a little more marketable with Adidas and USA T&F he could become a real star in the states. -

Sprintman, I actually agree with you. Luiz was a great move. But, I think his reserveness is actually kind of nice. Maybe it makes him less marketable, but it certainly makes him appear more genuine. Not everybody has to "talk it up".
I'm also looking forward to the 400 meters in years to come. No predictions, but it will be interesting to see. Wash looks good and so does Harrison. I think that Wariner has got the goods, and Potter does as well. We will see. There is a lot of sprint talent.Comment
